“Go into all the world and proclaim the Good News to all creation” (Mark 16:15). In a time when the cries of creation echo through droughts, floods, and the daily struggles of our communities, Green ELCSA believes faith must move from the pews to the public square, from words to witness, from belief to bold and restorative action.
Faith is not passive; it is living, breathing, and doing. When we say “Faith in action,” we are affirming that the Gospel is not only about salvation of souls, but also about the renewal of life systems (water, soil, air, and community well-being). The same faith that calls us to pray also calls us to plant; the same worship that gathers us on Sundays must scatter us during the week to care for God’s creation.
For Green ELCSA, creation care is not an optional ministry, it is a spiritual mandate. Every act of recycling, every tree planted, every solar light installed in a rural household becomes a sermon of hope and a declaration that another way is possible.
The vision of ecological transformation is rooted in both Scripture and science. Romans 8:22 reminds us that “the whole creation has been groaning.” These groans are the cries of polluted rivers, degraded land, and communities living in energy poverty. To answer these groans, we must bring theology into dialogue with technology, linking faith-based values to renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, waste management, and water stewardship.
Through education, advocacy, and practical projects, Green ELCSA promotes a just energy transition that places women and youth at the center. We imagine a church where every congregation becomes an eco-hub; a site of learning, healing, and innovation for a sustainable future.
True ecological transformation cannot happen without community transformation. Poverty, unemployment, and ecological destruction are intertwined. When communities gain access to clean energy, when youth and women find dignified livelihoods in green enterprises, and when congregations mobilize for climate justice, both creation and community are restored.
Green ELCSA’s approach is therefore holistic; integrating spirituality, social justice, and sustainability. We partner with church structures, local municipalities, schools, and civil-society groups to ensure that transformation begins from the ground up and radiates outward.
Our Call: To every believer, every congregation, and every community: this is your invitation. Faith in action means turning compassion into climate action, prayer into participation, and stewardship into systemic change. We are not just responding to a crisis; we are re-imagining a covenant between God, people, and the earth. Together, let us build a church that not only preaches the Gospel, but lives it, in harmony with creation, justice, and love.
